BSBI Annual Report 2023 by Margaret Norton (VCR)

Botanical activities in 2023 included, but were not limited to, the following:

  1. Field recording: fourteen full days in the field focused on recording targeted taxa and exploring high quality habitats in Co. Meath.
  2. Collection and curation of specimens of critical groups to include the Dryopteris affinis complex, Ranunculus auricomus, Rosa, Taraxacum, Trichophorum and Epipactis (photos only) for determination.
  3. Two days of fieldwork (including one in Co. Meath) accompanying visiting Dryopteris experts Alison Evans and Roger Golding of the British Pteridological Society. A further two days were spent with the visitors on indoor determination sessions.
  4. One day in DBN herbarium extracting information on specimens from Co. Meath.
