Volunteering opportunity: BSBI Skills & Training Committee

A vacancy has arisen on BSBI's Skills & Training Committee so we are looking to fill this vacancy from among our membership. You can see the current composition of the various BSBI standing committees on this page and members can view minutes and summaries from recent meetings on the separate, password-protected Governance website (email louise.marsh@bsbi.org if you have forgotten your password).

Skills & Training Committee remit

The Skills & Training Committee aims to advance BSBI’s work provide and signpost to botanical learning and engagement resources, publications and training events for all abilities; takes decisions on training and plant study grants; provides input and oversight of the BSBI’s handbook series, Identiplant training course and FISC botanical assessments. The committee has up to 12 members, including the Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. There are working groups on Handbooks publications, Identiplant, FISC, Botany for All and a panel for Training/Plant Study grants. The Communications Officer and Training Coordinator attend meetings, along with other staff from time to time.

What happens next?

The Committee Chair and Secretary will consider your application and get back to you. You may then be invited to attend a selection meeting, and/ or attend a Committee meeting as an observer. If you are invited to join a Committee, you will be asked to attend a welcome meeting with the committee Chair or Secretary.
