Taraxacum chrysophaenum “Orange-toothed Dandelion”
Section: Ruderalia
Introduced. Mostly found in south-west England and Wales, north to Lancashire, with outlying records in Teeside, E. Perth and N. Ireland. Verges, gardens, waste ground, hedge-banks etc.
T. chrysophaenum is a medium-sized dandelion with rather narrow, multilobate leaves, with 5-6 side-lobes. The distal margins of the proximal lobes are finely and regularly dentate, but distal lobes are usually entire. Petioles are white beneath, but the mid-rib above is coloured to some extent. Exterior bracts are regularly arranged and recurved to reflexed, coloured above a rather leaden-purple. Ligule stripes are grey-pink. Amongst the Piceata group it is most likely to be confused with T. piceatum which has fewer leaf-lobes
