Taraxacum cophocentrum “Rounded-lobed Dandelion”
Section: Ruderalia
Endemic to the British Isles, although possibly a recent rare introduction elsewhere. Widespread and fairly common in much of Britain and recorded in the Channel Islands. Waste places, hedge banks, gardens and wood margins, often in towns.
T. cophocentrum has rather entire dark green leaves with narrow petioles, white on outer, pink on inner leaves. It is markedly heterophyllous and on inner leaves forms large, broad, subdivided end-lobes. Leaf side-lobes are shallow and broad. Exterior bracts are narrow, hooked in posture, and often suffused pinkish. Small plants can resemble T. oblongatum which is a paler green.
